Green Arizona

People always assume that Arizona consists of nothing but sandy dunes, like I just walked out of the Aladdin movie selling genie lamps or something. Well, you know what? We've got green plants! And today I'm here to set this straight. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I present to you the green in desert land (drum roll please)...GREEN CACTUS!

Convinced that Arizona isn't a barren land yet? Ok, fine...these cacti aren't a very strong argument. But aren't they cool looking anyway?!

These just scream "TOUCH ME TOUCH ME I'M SO FUZZY!" And I had to learn the hard way that they are NOT. Deceiving little devils.

Of course there are cute ones too. Ain't they just so adorable?

I'm breaking the rules here--something yellow, heaven forbid. But these little fruits/flowers that grow on top of some of the cacti resemble pineapples, don't they?

Hope you all had a lovely St. Patrick's Day!

It started out as an affair...

sunday afternoon

Blogging has always been an on-off thing for me, I'd have to admit. My most long-term commitment was to xanga back in high school. But ever since I was introduced to the wonders of Google Reader, it opened me to the amazing world of the modern blogging community. There are so many great blogs out there that my rss feed is just exploding with good reads. It made me want to join in on the fun as well :)

You might be skeptical of my commitment to this particular blog, and I would not blame you. But I can tell you that I'm the type of person who doesn't really act upon something unless I've thought it through, and I have been thinking about starting a blog for over a year now. Hope that counts for something! And I'll do my best to stick to it as well.

I would say that my relationship with photography used to be just a casual affair. I enjoyed it, but it was never anything serious. In the past few years, I've taken thousands of photos, but have always left them lying in my hard drive, untouched. Lately I've realized that's no way to treat these respectable pictures! They have feelings too! So I'm ready to take our relationship to the next level and make it more official. My decision to commit to photography also stems from my recent acquisition of several "new" cameras, which I will introduce in the days ahead. I'm going to start digging through the archives and sharing my pictures with the world (or just whoever might be taking an interest :P), and I'm hoping that this blog will aid me in the process.

To kick-off, here's a picture I took a few weeks ago on a Sunday. It had been raining the whole day, but then it suddenly cleared up in the afternoon and all was bright and beautiful. I hope that my blogging journey has also passed its cloudy stages and onto brighter, clearer paths.
